Attalie Anne’s newest single, "Cups, Bowls & Vases," feels like it belongs at a wedding, but it’s an accident. While just as enamored with love as the next Jane Austen fan, the teen songwriter did not set out to write a wedding song. She didn’t even have marriage on her mind when she created the new love song on a silly whim. (LISTEN NOW)
“I was playing around in a new photo editing app, and was served up this random picture of a vase,” Attalie said. “When I saw that image of a beautiful vase, this pretty phrase ‘cups, bowls and vases’ just popped into my mind. So I started playing around with it on my guitar.”
Attalie clarified that the British pronunciation of the word “vases” – with the soft “a” sound, like vah-ses, rhymes with bosses – is what she had in mind when she wrote her new single.
The singer-songwriter’s mother, Bettijo, wed actor Todd Bridges last September, and Attalie gifted the couple a demo of the dreamy love song to dance to during their reception.
“My mom loves to host parties and has cupboards filled with dishes and cake stands. I think she related to the lyrics,” Attalie explained. “She loves the song's chorus so much and really wanted it for their wedding song.”
That actually wasn’t the first wedding for "Cups, Bowls & Vases." Attalie also played the new song live at her best friend Audrey’s wedding in April, just a few months after writing it.
Attalie is currently volunteering as a children's English teacher in Thailand. Follow along with her adventures on Instagram. Find "Cups, Bowls & Vases" along with Attalie’s debut EP and recent cover of "Blue Suede Shoes," on all major streaming platforms.
